The Diploma in Architecture is a programme offered by N.I.T in collaboration with Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture & Technology (JKUAT).
The Diploma is suitable for both KCSE and A-level graduates of the IGCSE system who wish to learn the art of drawing, designing, planning and construction of buildings i.e., erection of habitable construction works.
The University Diploma is intended to equip students with the knowledge and skills to create architectural designs that satisfy both aesthetic and technical requirements.
Classes are held in our spacious design studios and are supervised by studio masters.
All students attend workshops and site visits to put into practice what is taught in the classroom set up.
For successful completion of the course, each student must go through a semester of industrial attachment in relevant fields. The attachment is supervised and graded.
Course duration:
Two and a half (21/2) years
After successful completion of the course, trainees can work as architectural assistants in architectural and civil engineering firms.
Graduates of this programme can also further their studies in Architectural Technology at a bachelor's level.
Entry Requirements:
KCSE mean grade C plain or equivalent and grades C minus in English/Kiswahili, Mathematics, Physics and Geography or Drawing and Design or Art and Design or Design or History and Government or Chemistry (C in Physical Science)
